No technological expertise necessary. You can have a professional political blog up and running in less than an hour…
Are you frustrated by the direction in which our country is heading? Do you feel like your political leaders are out of touch with you? Sometimes do you wish you could grab them by the shoulders and shake some sense in them? I wouldn’t blame you if you did. Most Americans feel that way. For years the ratings for Congress keep getting lower and lower. Yet, because of technological innovations like the internet and social media, we are told that our political leaders can now be connected to all of us in a more personal way than ever before.
So why don’t they listen to you?
I believe that the internet has the potential to revolutionize the pace and direction of political change, but not enough of the right people are taking advantage of this opportunity. Who are these right people, you might ask? Well, chances are if you are reading this page, that YOU are one of them, and I am here to help. My name is MIles Mason… Well, that isn’t really my name. That is my nom da guerre, my pseudonym, my maven, my … well, you get the point. To be honest with you, I can’t tell you my real name. I am currently working in Washington DC, yep, the belly of the beast, and let’s just say that I am prepared to give you exclusive access to insider information that all political bloggers should know. However, I can only do so on a condition of anonymity. So, for now, you can call me Miles. I used to be a political blogger. Although, my political blogging stint was short lived, I can boast that my political blog influenced the outcome of a national election. That was before I knew what I know now about political communication from being on the inside. A few months after this election and after I was able to more effectively measure the extent of my influence, I realized that what I did wasn’t hard. It was actually a lot of fun. … And, if more people knew how to do what I did, together, we would all be more powerful. This realization led me to start Revolutionary Blogger. In order for anyone to start a powerfully influential political blog, there are some basic guidelines that everyone should follow. I put these guidelines together in Pamphleteering 2.0: Revolutionary’s Guide to Political Blogging:
This guide is written for the beginner who doesn’t have a political blog yet. It assumes you have no technical knowledge of building a website, and teaches you step-by-step how to get one started. The information in this guide will also be extremely useful for those who have made the mistake of using a free blogging platform like Blogger or WordPress.com. I explain in more depth in the guide why this is a mistake, but if you currently have a free blog, I highly recommend you switch to a self-hosted blog where you own your site.
Here’s what you’ll learn:
- Why to start a political blog
- How to choose a name for your blog
- How to perform keyword research and choose the right keywords for your site, so you will get traffic from the search engines
- How to set up your hosting account and how to install your blog
- Why you shouldn’t use a free blogging platform (Hint: on free blogging platforms you don’t own your content, Google, or someone else does.)
- How to select a good design and where to get a logo
- How to configure all your settings
- How to create content, (includes how to create links, add images, multimedia, etc.)
- How to create a plan that will lead to your success.
As you can see the topics in this interactive guide are limited to helping you set up a brand new, professional political blog that will be an effective platform for building your influence.
